Good value for the price Very close to the freeway
value greasy counter tops/table
i like the facilities in the room and the little breakfast room. i think the breakfast should include eggs and bacons.
Nice breakfast. Fridge and microwave in room was great. Mommy traveling with four year old.. Perfect for our stay, went Monterey but didn't have to pay coastal prices. About 30 min inland from Monterey. A couple blocks away the neighborhood gets kind of shady.
the 4 pillows, comfy bed and wonderful sheets! the staff was SO helpful with directions and had a kind, caring attitude. the coffee served in the Breakfast area was MUCH better than I expected, a nice surprise. (i'm a bit picky on my coffee!) it was all good. the managers were very kind and attentive.
We stayed here one night, the hotel was okay for the price. No problems, bed was fairly comfortable and room was clean.
The public space looks OK. We were waked up at 5:00AM by the bath next room. Apparently the guests at next room got up early and had their morning bath, which is OK. But the faucet of that bath generate an extremely load noise. Since the wall is so thin, the noise waked me all.
breakfast was best (variety and quaility of food and plenty of seating in foyer area) i have had for free. room was clean with micro, fridge, iron and hairdryer. bathroom walls could do with a wash. beds comfortable but sheets too small and move easily. walls not sound proof and can hear others when showering, knocking on and answering room doors. small, narrow rooms. good for overnight stay.
The room and breakfast were what you expect from a lower-middle price big chain hotel. Clean, a little cramped, and rather boring. I didn't get a chance to check out the pool - that looked different.
I stayed in Salinas because it was cheaper than Carmel, so my expectations were different. The hotel is in a convenient location, close to all services, it was clean, the front desk lady (Leticia, I think) was very nice & competent. No complaints at all.
I am so happy to have chosen this property. The hot tub was so relaxing after a long day of classes. Staff was attentive and room was much more than I expected. Very clean!
The hotel itself was very nice. The hotel staff. They did not honor their confirmation, and repeatedly told me that I should not make reservations through a 3rd party.
We were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. The front desk personnel were very friendly and accommodating. The room was very neat and clean and the king size was very comfortable. They even give you extra pillows. There is a breakfast bar downstairs in the main lobby each morning. All in all we has a very nice stay.
Good breakfast selection, friendly service, bed was decently comfortable. Tacky decor, weird egg white rounds and only sausage offered as a protein at breakfast.
The gym was just what I needed. Treadmill, weights, and a stair stepper. Although the room was small it had a cute window seat my teenager girls enjoyed while working on their laptops. The room was difficult to move around in. The tv should have been mounted on the wall. The microwave was ancient.
They charged me $15 for extra occupancy without telling me and did not provide extra bed. For what thing they charge me extra ? Staff was very rude. Lights were not working in room. Will avoid going again to same hotel.
The evening manager has to be the rudest man I have ever spoken to on the phone. I was so shocked by the way he yelled over what I was trying to say that I didn't get his name. I believe he was an Indian man but am not sure. He was poorly trained and rude
Good beds Old TVs
The Laurel Inn was a basic, clean, and good value motel. We booked this over the Memorial Day weekend and most hotels and motels in the area were "no vacancy" so The Laurel Inn was about the best value for the money available. The only suggestion I have is that the room for the included continental breakfast was too small for the number of rooms at the motel.
This place was great. Close to freeway and lots of close restaurants and stores. Very clean. Staff was nice. Good selection for the free breakfast. Pool/hot tub were very relaxing. I would def stay again. No complaints
Clean and comfortable. Wonderful breakfast and well-stocked. Enjoyed our stay!
Decent value, clean accomodations. Came up to play golf and have reasonably a priced stay since I wasn't going to be in the room much. Laurel Inn fit the bill. Rooms need to be updated. Old tube TVs! Mattresses, bedding are old.
It was so clean!! New mattress. Clean, soft sheets. Plenty of pillows. Bathroom area was large enough for woman with lots if make up and hair stuff. Hot water forever. Nice new tv. Great free breakfast with really good French toast. Just families and couples so there was no drama at all. Very very safe. For around $100. A night for a Kung bed I was very impressed and I tried most of the hotels around salinas- the safe ones at least- and this was by far the best!! The manager was rude and snotty. All the other staff was very nice but she had a attitude that ruined a perfect environment. Too bad.
It is a nice clean place. The room was good and comfortable. The breakfast was a good start to the day, not a full breakfast but nice.
It was a clean, no frills kind of place. We travelled in March and the rate was $72/night which was comparable with places of much lower quality. It is very close to freeway access without being close to the freeway noise. The mattress and pillows were clean and comfortable. The television was a bit outdated (30" CRT) and the picture was a little dark. The shampoo provided was cheap, but we didn't stay there for the shampoo.
Laurel Inn in Salinas is conveniently located just off Hwy 101, about 2 miles from downtown. Rooms are basic but clean, with decent TV, small work table, small fridge. Continental breakfast is fine, although some protein options would be nice. However, there is a Black Bear diner just across the parking lot, plus other restaurants and basic shopping options across the freeway (west) or over on Main Street (about a mile east). There is a small pool, although Salinas tends to be cool. Depending on room location, there can be traffic noise, but not too bad. Staff are friendly, and the price is right. Wish the breakfast options were a little better, but there are pastries, fruits, cereal, yoghurt and typical drinks. More substantial options at the local diner or other restaurants. Can be noisy if on the street side. Nothing fancy, but a reasonable place to stay.
The location was ideal. It was a sad time as the family was in town to attend a funeral. The room needed a microwave and an iron and ironing board. I assumed incorrectly they were in all the rooms.
It was a clean, no frills kind of place. I traveled in September and the rate was $113/night which was a bit high but of better quality than lower cost places. It is very close to freeway access without being close to the freeway noise. The mattress and pillows were clean and comfortable. The breakfast area was clean, and the selection decent. The staff were consistently very friendly and helpful. The television was a bit outdated (30" CRT) and the picture was a little dark. I moved from a two queen bed room, which apparently wasn't used much and worth the rate, to a single queen room which was clearly used more and not so much worth the rate. The coffee in the breakfast area was terrible. Only on the last day, when I decided not to have the room maid service, did the front desk complain to me about this. Not sure why, as the room had been serviced the day before, and the maid was very friendly about it when I told her.
good bed, quiet, about the same price as other hotels in the vicinity. tourist season high prices, but goes with the territory
