More than 4 people? Consider adding on the Indian Lake Lodge, just diagonal from Cabin #1 Consider this cabin an upgrade from camping. Along the shoreline of Indian Lake, this old-school (1940s) cabin is an ideal get-away for the small family or couple who used to like to camp, or wants a more rustic experience. Walking around the cabin, the ground is uneven in places. Please watch your steps. There are cottages within earshot, as this was once the Mountain Ash Resort, a historic spot for many years. The shoreline is rocky, so it isn't easy (though not impossible) to hop into the water directly in front of the cabin. Due to the rocks, swim shoes are suggested. Swimming directly n front of the cabin is not ideal for small children. When you are at Indian Lake Cabin #1, feel like you are a part of the water at Indian Lake. We are located in Manistique, Michigan in the Upper Peninsula. Located along Indian Lake, which is 8,400 acre Spring fed lake. Indian Lake is the fourth largest inland lake in Michigan's Upper Peninsula with an area of 8,400 acres. It is 5 miles long and 3 miles wide. Indian Lake has a maximum depth of 18 feet with about 90 percent of the lake less than 15 feet deep. Game fish include perch, walleye, northern pike, muskellunge, rock bass, small mouth bass, bluegill, sturgeon and brown trout. It is rocky along the shoreline, except in a tiny, sandy area. The lake has a sandy bottom, yet you have to walk through the rocks in order to hit the sand. This area is great for swimming, hiking, golfing, biking, fishing, hunting and sight seeing. Spend the day boating, read a book on the deck under the umbrella, or enjoying the tiny sandy beach area. Then, spend the evening having a tasty barbecue and a soothing bonfire. You are literally steps (10 or so) from the lake. Gorgeous, wide open view of the water. Enjoy being outside in the fresh air! Fayette State Park & Historic Townsite: Fayette was once one of the Upper Peninsula's most productive iron-smelting operations. Located on the Garden Peninsula at Snail Shell Harbor. When the charcoal iron market began to decline, the Jackson Iron Company closed its Fayette smelting operation in 1891. It is now a completely restored village including 22 historic buildings, museum exhibits and the visitor center, which can be toured May through October. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Association: This cabin is a part of the Mountain Ash Condo Association. Back in the 1980's this was known as the Mountain Ash Resort. Each of the cabins is now privately owned. Freshwater Vacation Rentals manages 3 of the cottages: Indian Lake Lodge, Birch Breeze Bungalow #9 & Indian Lake #1. There are no other rentals on this property. The rest are the owners you see are just enjoying their home. Many of the owners live here all summer. Beach: The beach area outside the pavilion is small, and it is just used for swimming. It is not for docking boats. The association does not allow boats to be pulled up and left all night. They must be taken to the Indian Lake State Park and trailered back and forth each night. Boats: While we love the new dock, if your boat has a deep bottom, it may be too rocky to pull your boat up as far as you would like. We highly recommend you pull your boat each night due to the high winds and waves that Indian Lake creates. A friend's boat was actually sunk by the waves a few year's back, so now we are extra cautious. Need a rental? Firepit & Firewood: There is a portable fire pit on wheels. We do not guarantee there will be firewood available during your stay. Many times, you will find firewood left in close proximity to the cottage, that you are welcome to use. Fish cleaning hut: We have a communal fish cleaning hut that is used by 12 cabins within the Mountain Ash Association. Still, if you are fishing for & henceforth cleaning your salmon, we do need you to clean your salmon at the Harbor Boat ramp fish cleaning station where they have a large grinder for the leftover fish parts. (Open May-end of September) Grill: There is a charcoal grill provided for your use. Guns: We can not allow target shooting anywhere near the Indian Lake (Mountain Ash Association) Cottages. There are neighbors close by. Plus, there are local 2 gun ranges in the area that are accessible. Internet/WiFI: Yes! Pavilion: As a guest, you are welcome to use the pavilion to spend time along the water, cook or enjoy the small beachy area. The Indian Lake State Park, just 1 mile around the bend has a more expansive pavilion/ sandy beach area. Pets: I'm sorry, yet due to safety concerns, we will no longer be able to welcome pets of guests to any of the cabins at the Mountain Ash Association. The only way to have a pet with the Mountain Ash Association is to purchase a cottage. Owners are allowed to have pets, yet guests are not. My apologies for this inconsistency, yet it is a part of the association by-laws. Play area: There is a small children's play area with plenty of room for outdoor children's games across from the community grilling area. Towels: Yes, we have both basic towels and linens for your stay. Swimming: The sandy swimming beach area right next to the cabin, with a convenient pavilion and community grilling area. Water (well): Our water has passed all the county water tests. You are welcome to use the water as you would at home.

Nestled between the trees, facing Lake Michigan lies a newly built (2017) lake house. Not to be easily seen from the road, you are greeted with a wide, gravel/dirt driveway. Walking up the short stairway to the beautiful carved glass entrance of the lake house, you'll open the door to a captivating entryway with marble floors. The kitchen (well water) is just to the left, filled with all your basic necessities. Newer appliances: refrigerator, electric stove, dishwasher, coffee maker and even a precision induction cook top Plates, cups, bowls, pots/pans and silverware are all fresh and ready to make your family vacation as easy and comfortable as possible. The Lake House Oasis has plenty of counter-top space, while looking out at beautiful Lake Michigan. Meander into the dining room with the wooden table for 6 of the people dear to you to enjoy a meal together overlooking Lake Michigan. The gorgeous wood floors compliment the wooden table perfectly. So that the whole family can eat together, the counter doubles as an eating bar with the 4 bar stools facing the kitchen. Keeping the chef company is always appreciated. Next to the dining room, you'll find the cozy high-top table with 4 chairs. Perfect for your breakfast coffee or evening cocktail. The wet bar in this nook between the dining and living rooms is a wonderful compliment to the space. There are various drinking glasses from margarita, martini and the classic wine glasses. Moving through the wet bar/ breakfast nook, you never stop overlooking Lake Michigan! The living room has has a comfortable couch with a chaise lounger on one side, There is a fireplace and TV with Directv, as well as a Blu-ray DVD player to enjoy your time relaxing, when you aren't at the peaceful Lake Michigan sandy beach. Off the main floor living room, you'll find a convenient bathroom with a shower, sink and toilet. There is an electric fireplace for you to enjoy as well! Your outside patio dining and relaxing is available from 3 different exits off the main level. The options are endless. There is even a stairwell down to the beach from the main floor outdoor patio setting. Heading up stairs, you'll find 2 bedrooms with a bathroom in the middle. All rooms have ceiling fans. Air Conditioning has not been needed at Lake House Oasis with the beautiful cross-breeze. The bedrooms both have ideal views of Lake Michigan. Both bedrooms, have a queen bed, closet and dresser. The bathroom in the middle of the upper level has a tub/shower, toilet and sink with a large mirror. Bath towels and basic linens are provided. In the ground level, you will find the easiest access the Lake Michigan. There you will find a fun game room with a sitting area, Playstation (bring your own games), TV and Blu-Ray DVD player. WiFi is present throughout this lake house. Two (2) bedrooms also call the ground floor home, with an ideal older kids room with 2 sets of bunk beds and a queen bedroom on opposite sides of the bathroom/laundry room. The ground floor bathroom is located between the 2 bedrooms, just off the game room area. In the older kids room, one set of bunk beds has a full bed on the bottom and a twin on top. The other bunk bed has 2 twin beds. Both have direct entry to the walkway down to the beach. **This room is not advisable for curious young children sleeping alone.** The ground floor bathroom also doubles as a laundry room with a shower, toilet, sink and washer/dryer.
