We enjoyed the public spaces best, particularly the pool and the central bar. We paid for a room upgrade and were thoroughly disappointed. Our room actually seemed smaller and with less amenities than the room a couple traveling with us had who did not purchase the upgrade. Room also had mold, standing rain water, and a bad smell.
The beach is pretty and the pool was refershing. But...the food was terrible. The $20/person snorkeling trip went to a dead reef and tennis lessons didn't happen 2 out of the 3 days we stayed (I had really looked foward to that!). All-inclusive drinks was the only thing that made us happy. There really is nothing special about this resort. Maybe good for families with kids, but nothing luxury or special for adults who have been around the world. \n \nAlso -- a 1.5 hour and $90 cab ride from Santo Domingo -- thanks A LOT online travel website for not including that in our so-called 'all inclusive' vacation package. \n \nOverall it was a bummer of a trip for the money we spent.
Have visited this resort for the last 10 years and it has gone from a great hotel when ran by Hilton to finally on this last trip to a place where the only thing nice you are going to still enjoy is the beautiful beach and landscaping. The new staff is really inept and don't seem to be happy having extra work as the resort seems to be understaff. Front desk staff was not friendly at all when checking in/check out. The only staff member still there that still does a great job is a server at the Buffett named Rosa. If you want to eat at one of the restaurant you have to be up early and make a line to reserve otherwise you will never be able to eat at any of them and all they will do is offer you another restaurant that you will have to pay around $50.00 USD. Food at the Buffett is pretty mediocre but european tourists seem not to have a problem with it . Me hospede en el hotel por que unos amigos se casaban en el mismo, nunca espere que el hotel fuera tan excelente, comida buena, fresca y variada, bebidas premium, el personal muy atento. El servicio de concierge excelente el sr Carlos King me ayudó mucho con algo que se me extravío y lo recupere. En resumen mi experiencia fue muy placentera y recomiendo Dreams La Romana 100% para unas buenas vacaciones ya sea que quieras descansar o hacer diversas actividades o ambas. No hubo nada que no me gustara
The Spa experience is a good take away for us. Inaccurate information given from tour guides to push their products. Our servers were horrible at best. Seems there need to be some training to demonstrate that all customers should be treated equally. We observed on multiple occassions how we were treated differently in comparison to other guest. There won't be a repeat for us to Dreams La Romana.
Customer service was excellent. The staff was trained to accommodate any requests. Also the food was excellent and the selection of food was extensive. At times vendors trying to sell time shares, excursions, etc. were a little intrusive, but probably not outside the limits when compared to other resorts.
The food was pretty typical for an all inclusive. Staff was very good, property well taken care of. Beach clean and plenty of spots to sit and relax.
I stayed at the Resort in early December and had an amazing time with my group. The grounds are very well kept and the Beach atmoshere very lively. All of the dining options were very good and did not experience wait times at any point. The best part of the stay was the warmth and helpfulness of their well seasoned staff.

Freundliche und recht hilfsbereite, teils gut englisch und auch deutsch sprechende Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter; gute Küche und gepflegte Anlage; ruhige, gute und erholsame Atmosphäre. Kein Shuttle-Service im Angebot; teils etwas ältere Möbel; keine Nutzung von Solarenergie.
