We stayed at the Matrix hotel and have nothing but good things to say! The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was immaculate (which is super important). The size of the room was smaller than anticipated, but it was a great stay, nice and quiet, and the staff was very helpful. I will definitely stay there again!
Great staff, very friendly. Service in lounge was excellent. Rooms were great. Will be staying here again. Love all the perks!
I recently stayed at the trendy/boutique Matrix and enjoyed every minutes. Located on a quiet street only 1 block away from Jasper Avenue (with restaurants options), also walking distance from the parliament building and the river valley park. The Lobby is very nice; the room was super comfortable with all the amenities (flat screen TV, alarm radio Ipod, iron/iron board etc) and everything was spotless. I really appreciated the fact that Internet, parking, Breakfast (and great selection too) and a wine reception are offered at no charge daily. Plus everyone at the hotel was smiley and always ready to help.
I stayed at The Matrix over a weekend and it's a great little hotel. It's centrally located so would be a great hotel for business travellers conducting business in downtown Edmonton. But leisure travellers could also benefit from it being centrally located and close to a light-rail station. The staff at the front desk were pleasant.
I loved this swanky boutique hotel with evening wine tastings, free breakfast & internet, you can't go wrong. We stayed here during the Edmonton Indy and we saw some of the racers from the Indy, which is always a bonus! It was quite, but still had a social atmosphere. The front desk takes good care of you and when I needed a sewing kit, they even had one on hand. Highly recommend this hotel if you're staying in Edmonton!
Breakfast is diverse and well-presented: stunning pastries, lovely range-run chicken eggs in a cup with potatoes and cheese -- yummy. Oatmeal, yogurt, sausages, heated cinnamon rolls, juices, milks, fruit skewers. This is fantastic and included in the pri Price slightly higher than PriceLine said. Parking is not well-kept in winter. Wine at welcome is very low-grade, and appetizers were minimal this time. Not deal-breakers but not up to usual standards.
When we got to this hotel, it was a sight for sore eyes! We had been staying at run down older hotels and this hotel was incredibly clean and friendly! The staff was always available and welcoming. The breakfast was incredibly upscale and good! The only complaint were that the walls were very thin and it seemed more of a part hotel so there was a lot of noise at night when people would come back from the bars. Great hotel and very classy! The restaurant down stairs was expensive, but incredible food and service!
Easy access to where I had to go. Nice, quiet room. Have no complaints.
Very comfortable beds.
Great up grades in progres A few details to finishing need to be looked after. I did bring it the front desks attention
I have stayed at the Cedar Park Inn sereral times and have always found it to be a great place to stay while in Edmonton.
I use Red Arrow and therefore easy pickup and drop off point. did not like the fact that I was charged $20.00 more for the same room that I had booked 2 weeks earlier.
Location and Rate
No A/C Carpets were dirty/ no breakfast No A/C little TV dirty carpets/ Smell like cigarette smoke all over the building/pool looks like a dungeon/
The location The paint peeling on the floor of the bath tub.
They pick you up at the airport and have free shuttles to the West Edmonton Mall. You have to book your shuttle for back to the airport 24 hours in advance, and they don't tell you this.
the sun deck on top of the hotel The air conditioning did not work for two days. I checked out. They were useless in resolving this problem.
The staff at the front desk were very helpful and accommodating - really appreciated their professionalism yet realism. Our room was very nice - would love to stay in it again. We were there for 2 nights.
the hospitality. The dirty carpets in the rooms
the Dalton's resturaunt - food was excellent! didn't like the pillows - too fluffy and large - should have been a choice for a flatter pillow
The facility was great at the pub was amazing! Good drinks, good service, really great food! It's not that I didn't like, but the train runs right behind the building, so the hotel literally bounces as it goes by. Can't really hear it, but you can sure feel it
The only good thing was location to the LRT. The room smelt funny and the heating made a terrible noise that kept us awake all night. Don't be fooled by the 'complimentary continental breakfast'. I wouldn't serve this to a dog. You could use the croissant as a rock to break any window, the eggs were boiled for about 2 hours and everything was served on papper plates with plastic utensils. Horrible!
Good value. Convienent location
Friendly staff, decent continental breakfast in the morning Smaller room.
free parking the breakfast was closed too early-10:30. the tiolet in our room didn't stop running. i reserved a single queen bed room and got two double beds. no shower caps in the bathrooms
Location The mattresses were far too hard. The breakfast had little variety and the carpets in the hallways were tired and worn.
We stayed here before and really liked the restaurant and the central location. However the restaurant is now chinese and not as good. It still had a good buffet breakfast that was included, but not as good.
Staff very helpful. Good location for city centre
friendly staff / good location / continental breakfast room is small and no outside source of light.
When we first got to our room it was really warm, the AC was ok but the room still was very unbearable. However after calling downstairs they helped move us to an executive suite to make up for it, the staff were very helpful and we were really grateful they helped us move our stuff to such an amazing room for no extra costs. High recommend this place to anyone!
Location was fine for where we were going. broken window in hotel room
Proximety to the events we were in town for.
nothing hate everything about this hotel
I stayed there last week and because of the limited summer in the part of the world, every Harley motercycle was on Whyte street and so it went all night until the wee hours of the morning for me. On a positive note, the room was modern and the breakfast buffet was better than any I had in the U.S.
I had the opportunity to stay at the Mettera hotel during the beginning of September. As you walk in, you notice the stunning lobby with modern chairs. You are greeted by friendly staff who go out of their way to make you feel comfortable throughout your whole stay. The rooms are modern and have comfortable beds with luxurious white linens. I stayed on the third floor in a room with a large rear facing balcony. The ambiance on the balcony was great after a day of work. The hotel provided a delicious breakfast each day and a great free wine tasting hour at the end of the day with cheese and crackers. I would recommend the hotel to out of town guests, locals who want a night out on Whyte and a close place to head home to, or for business travelers. Make sure to grab the Mettera VIP card at the hotel front desk if you want exclusive discounts at local restaurants on Whyte! I look forward to my next stay at the Mettera hotel!
As I began to write this review, I see that another reviewer describes this property as: '“Noisy & inferior breakfast - below par for a 'luxury hotel'” . . . I can say from my experience, our stay was the EXACT opposite. Rooms were very quiet. Yes, Friday and Saturday night the street was a bit noisy with the 18+ crowd, but ear plugs are provided and they work great. The mattress was an excellent sleep. The king suite was perfect - plenty of room and everything was close to first class. Loved the extra sink at the bar in the room. Huge big screen hi-def TV. Yes, I am not rich, but this is one of the nicest hotels that I have ever stayed in, and I have done a LOT of travel with my work. For what it was, the breakfast was GREAT. Porridge - yes, real oatmeal, waffles with fruit compote and whipped cream, eggs every day in two ways, a different meat every day - stayed four days - fresh juice, espresso/capp/lattes every day Times two or three, assorted danish and other pastries, toast, ...
Enjoyed our stay, impressed with breakfast and 5 pm wine and cheese.
Wouldn't stay anywhere else. Lots of extras and the beds and comforters are regularly replaced.
Great location. Parking is very difficult.
