Swimming pools are great with the view of the sunset. They have 5 restaurants and not a great selection on the menu and very pricey. You need a car if you're going to stay at that the Frenchman's reef. Average price for a taxi was anywhere from $8 to $14. Luggage is $4 a piece.
Activities included in the resort fee for adults and children are excellent. Water aerobics, trivia games, yoga classes, parrot show, etc. Food prices on the property are pretty high given the average quality. The standout is Havana Blue which is on the reef side and privately operated --- the food there is excellent!
After a long day of travel it was nice to pull into a resort that was all inclusive. There was no need to leave the premises There were some signs of deferred maintenance
great location, pool and bar were nice bathrooms could've been cleaner and we experienced a leak in our ceiling and had to be moved to another room...
Dirty cockroach infected and lousy air conditioning. 200 dollars for this? Only positive across from ferry dock.
If you're coming or going to the BVI, hotel is across the street from the ferry terminal making it perfect for crash and dash. Nothing spectacular about the hotel. Clean, quiet, what more do you want? Walking distance to Frenchtown where there are several bars and restaurants.
Stayed in the villas at ''The Cove''. If you need a lot of space--this works. Great for traveling with very young children and even a nanny. You can also set up an account at the adjoining marriot hotel and go to the beach at morningstar. The cove is not very caribean in style. Our room had granite counters and furnishings found in any Marriot--not very island-ish. We also stayed in Morningstar beachside. We preferred that location for its ambiance.
I'm an owner and spent my 3rd week here at the end of October. The rooms are very nice. We have a 2 bedroom, both of which are roomy with adjacent bathrooms and balconies. The Living Room/Dining Room/Kitchen are in the middle of the unit, providing additional privacy between the bedrooms if needed. I do recommend renting a car. I had no problem with driving on the left side (just remember to stay close to the left side of the road). The steering wheel is situated as in mainland US. There are plenty of taxis to get you where you want to go, but a car may be more economical. We paid $80 in taxi fees for 4 people to go out to dinner. We only did it so we didn't have to be concerned if we drank. The beach at the Cove is nice, but you need to be careful of sea urchins. To the right of the dock, there are rocks near the beach that you need to get over to get to where it's sandy under the water. This is where I had an encounter with a sea urchin. It's sandier on the left side of the dock. ...
Stayed in Nov of 2009.The setting is beautiful and the villas are exceptional. Well equiped and spacious. Food is very expensive but with the kitchenette we were able to fix some meals in the room. The location is secluded and private but that can also be a problem with transportation. Suggest renting a car but be prepared to drive on the left side. With it being still under construction going back and forth to the hotel will be more converient in days to come. There will be carts to transport guests. In some of the eateries the menus were very limited but the portions were huge and very tasty. We will definitely go back.
The view and sea breeze were wonderful and service and accommodation was great
All the employees where extremely attentive, the room was very comfortable, beautiful views, the pool area was great, the restaurant served delicious food. Location, although you get to enjoy beautiful views in order to move around is best to rent a motorcycle or car.
The restaurant was excellent. View of the harbor from every seat of this open air place. Even at the bar: the bartender's area was sunken to allow for better views. We were there at dusk, and watched as the daylight view of sailboats and a cruise ship turned into a sea of twinkling lights. Staff very friendly and helpful. One of the best Sunday brunches I've ever had. Easy taxi ride from airport and to ferry. Since it is on a mountainside, there are a lot of stone steps to negotiate. No elevators, which makes it difficult if you have a lot of luggage, as we did. We only stayed one night, but I would have rented a car if we were staying longer, as it is too far to walk to town. Bedroom was small but comfortable. I would have preferred one with a view. Pool was small, and in view from the bar.
