Great service, food was surprisingly delicious and plentiful is an understatement. Several of the reservation only restaurants that I went to were very good as well. Easy to get to, lots of excursions. Very helpful and friendly staff. I would stay again. it's a tough one. I probably would've enjoyed more musical variety but i'm kind of grasping at straws to be honest.
Beautiful property; great entertainment, good food, even better liquor... that's it! If your room is in block 3, eg: room # 3xxx,... RUN!!! (unless you thoroughly enjoy the smell of sewage). Once you traverse past the main dining hall & approach the elevator for block 3, a noxious odour of sewage hits you! And it doesn't leave you... it permeates through the corridors and remains noticeably present even when you're isolated in your room. We arrived on Friday evening to a room which was cleaned before 3pm the same day, but which still wreaked of that god-forsaken sewage odour. It was so bad that we checked out on Saturday afternoon, instead of Sunday as scheduled (without being refunded). Your only hope for escape, aside from checking out, is to confine yourself to the many other beautiful areas of this property... the beach, pool, nightclub, dining areas. Just stay as far away from block 3 as possible and dare not venture into your magnificently appointed room! What about sleeping soundly in a comfortable bed to the sounds of breaking waves you may ask... overrated! (unless your vision included the porous smell of sewage constantly tickling at your nose & churning your stomach.) Did we complain you may ask? Yes we did, but was still left to suffer in sewage city (aka Block 3)! I guess I can understand it being difficult to relocate guests when your hotel is close to capacity & an entire block of rooms is under siege! Aside from that little nagging smell :( the property is beautiful & the entertainment is great, despite the service being less than stellar

My husband and I stayed here on our honey moon in 1998 and it was beautiful and wonderful so we thought we would go back. 11 years later this hotel is showing its age! I would never go here again. The rooms were dingy, the furniture was the same furniture from 11 years ago with ding marks all over it. The bars close way too early now (most at 5pm), the service was not as good and the restraunt quality has gone way down. Definetly not worth the money. The spa wervices are also way too expensive now. We had to get more towels and wash clothes becuase there was only one set when we got there. We ended up called 3 times to get them. The minifridge is limited on the quantity of items you are allowed per day and they would only allow you to have 1 3oz cranberry juice per room??? So we had to split it. Even if you ask for more they will not give it to you. The main bar that stays open with the later hours is way up the mountain side so good luck catching your breath and finding your way back...
Is this the newest property in Jamaica? No. Is the fully renovated and looks like it's never had a guest stay there? No. But is it the most relaxing, romantic place you may ever stay? Yes. So much to see and experience here that getting to the beach almost is an afterthought.
We have been to Jamaica 4 other times. We had very high hopes in regards to this stay. We had seen other reviews about this resort and were very excited about our stay. Arrival at the airport and being escorted into their waiting room was very nice and very painless. Drinks were provided as were restroom facilities. We only had to wait not even a 1/2 hour. The drive to the resort was very nice since they have finally finished with the road work. Upon arrival at the property we were greeted with the customary glass of champagne and checked in. At the same time we booked our restaurant reservations. A gentleman took us to our room in a little taxi like vehicle because we would have had to walk a bit of a distance with our luggage. We had to wait a bit more then we would have liked, but they did finally come and showed us our room which was right on the beach overlooking a small yard. My wife and I were impressed with the boutique feel of the Plantation though it is part of the Sandals chain. Never felt crowded and the facilities felt authentic. The best food we've ever had at an all inclusive. A few earlier reviews claimed the rooms were worn but we felt our room and all the public spaces were clean and not dated at all. We are beach bums and loved the west beach. The butler service was ok though certainly not as good as butler services at other resorts. Some of the food staff could use more hospitality training.
